In order to be able to register for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in Customer Service, participants in the continuing education, Vocational Education and Training in Customer Service must have a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or a comparable qualification and at least five years of professional experience in technical customer service, three years of which must be in a management position.

Anyone wishing to register for the Federal Professional Examination for Technical Customer Service Specialists with a Federal VET Diploma or comparable qualification after continuing education, further training and at least two years of professional experience in technical customer service or service and pay the examination fees on time.

Continuing education, further training in customer service serves as preparation for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in Technical Customer Service / Service Management and trains participants in the subjects that are tested in the AFPE. These are: Service management, business management, economics, personnel development and management, law and business organization, product and customer relationship management, as well as work techniques and communication. The continuing education, further training extends over two years and is offered by schools in Baden, Muttenz, Zug, Aarau and Winterthur, among others.

Continuing education, further training in customer service can take different lengths of time depending on the degree chosen. Seminars and workshops can last from one day to several months, while continuing education, further training with a federal qualification extends over a longer period of time. For example, participants in a preparatory course for the Federal Diploma of Higher Education (FPE) in Technical Customer Service with Federal Diploma of Higher Education attend continuing education, further training spread over a year, while prospective managers of technical customer service have to plan two years of extra-occupational training.

After continuing education, further training, technical customer service specialists find employment in commercial companies, industrial companies and service companies, where they work in support, service and spare parts management, dispatching / operations management or on the hotline and receive damage reports and customer requests. They also ensure that spare parts are available, advise customers, recommend measures and decide on warranty services.

The final examination in continuing education, further training in customer service with Federal Professional Examination consists of five parts, all of which are tested in writing as well as orally or practically. The only exception is the "Supporting and supervising employees" part of the exam, which is only examined in writing. In addition, there are the examination parts "Planning technical customer service / service", "Implementing company organization and legal provisions", "Applying work and communication techniques" and "Supporting and satisfying customers with services".
