People with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education (continuing education and training / tertiary level) in the field of metal construction have the opportunity to manage their own company or obtain a management position in a larger company in the industry with continuing education, further training as a metal construction project manager with Federal Diploma of Higher Education. The training leads to a job that is predominantly administrative and organizational and contains hardly any practical work. They represent the company to the outside world and are responsible for PR, acquiring new customers, preparing quotations and invoices and looking after existing customers. They also negotiate prices with suppliers and plan and coordinate in meetings with site managers and architects. They are responsible for the smooth running of the technical office and the workshop itself, manage projects and design systems and products. They identify optimization potential, evaluate and introduce improved processes and test the latest process technologies and production techniques before deciding which innovations to introduce. They also deal in detail with marketing and corporate financing. As HR managers, metal construction project managers are responsible for managing apprentices, recruiting and hiring new employees and are familiar with personnel law.
