Human anatomy - understanding our body structure

Human anatomy deals with the body structure, shape, position and structures of organs, tissue and cells. Anatomy is primarily used in medicine. Whether nurses, medical assistants, massage therapists, physiotherapists or doctors: The teaching of the body forms one of the most important components of the basic and advanced training and specialist knowledge of individual medical and nursing professionals.

There are different areas in the study of the body. In the field of human anatomy, macroscopic anatomy deals with all parts of the body that are visible to the eye. This includes in particular the body parts that are visible within the body and only after the body has been cut open and apart. In microscopic anatomy, on the other hand, the parts of the body that are not visible to the eye and their fine structure are examined and researched. Embryology is also part of the study of the body. Research into the development of a human being brings numerous advances in medicine and is an extremely interesting subject area for many people.

Would you like to attend an anatomy course and expand or refresh your knowledge? Especially if you work in the medical field or are planning to re-enter the medical profession, anatomy training is very helpful and supportive. In addition, a basic course in human anatomy is an important prerequisite for many further training courses in order to be allowed to take part in them at all. You can find offers from renowned schools at Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch, the address for the career-conscious and those interested in education. Free and non-binding documents can be ordered directly from the schools.

Questions and answers

Yes, you have the opportunity to complete a course in anatomy even without any special experience in medicine, alternative medicine or nursing. As a rule, these courses do not require any experience and are suitable for anyone interested in learning more about human anatomy.
If you only intend to attend a short course on human anatomy and then work as a therapist without having completed any other medical, alternative medical or counseling training before or during this course, you should reconsider this plan carefully. If you want to work in experiential medicine, you need experience and basic knowledge, which you can acquire both in training and in professional practice. If you want to work as a therapist, you can do so on a self-employed basis at any time, but you will only receive health insurance recognition, which enables you to bill your patients for the costs of supplementary insurance, if you can demonstrate sufficient contact hours and teaching hours. This often requires basic training in conventional medicine, which comprises a total of 150 teaching hours and includes, but is not limited to, human anatomy.
There are very different courses that provide you with more or less comprehensive training in the field of human anatomy. You can attend a short seminar, which lasts 20 lessons and gives you a brief overview of the subject, or you can attend a full training course, which is regarded as basic training in conventional medicine and must have at least 150 lessons in order to be recognized by the EMR. In this case, the training usually lasts just under a year, with you attending classes all day on one day a month, usually a Saturday, to expand your knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Many schools base their courses on the guidelines of the EMR, the Empirical Medicine Register, which is also recognized as a quality label by health insurance companies. For most therapy courses to be recognized, participants must have completed at least 150 hours of basic training in conventional medicine. These vary slightly depending on the school, but essentially cover the following areas:
  • Human anatomy and physiology
  • Pathology and pathophysiology
  • Medical history and interview
  • Differential diagnosis and diagnosis
  • Psychology and psychosomatics
  • First aid and hygiene
