Do I need previous experience in a law firm to start training as a legal secretary?
The legal secretary course provides basic and advanced knowledge for future employment in a law firm. Therefore, professional experience as a paralegal or similar is not necessary, on the contrary. Course participants should have no more than three years' experience in this specialist area.
Are there any participation requirements for the legal secretary training (cert.)?
In addition to the aim of being able to work in a law firm, commercial (professional) experience is also a prerequisite for participation in the legal secretary training course (depending on the course target group).
This means that, as a rule, vocational education and training (VET) as a business administrator or comparable training is required.
Experience as a paralegal is welcome but not a requirement.
Can I also attend a compact seminar to become a legal secretary?
A compact seminar to become a legal secretary is currently not possible. The specialist course takes place once a week in the late afternoon and extends over approximately nine attendance dates.
Is training to become a legal secretary an apprenticeship?
The legal secretary course is not a basic training course that leads to a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (Federal VET Diploma), but rather a continuing education course with a certificate. Vocational training in the commercial sector is a prerequisite for this course.
How extensive is the legal secretary course?
The legal secretary course is a continuing education, further training course lasting approximately three months.
