The Weiterbildungszentrum Lenzburg (wbz) is a professional course and training provider in the fields of automotive engineering, facility management and maintenance, caretaking, woodworking (carpenters, joiners), hotel housekeeping, maintenance, mechanical engineering/automation, metal construction, solar technology and plant services. Interested parties can find further courses in the areas of vocational training, leadership and personality, other areas of expertise and PC courses (ECDL = European Certificate of Digital Literacy).
The Lenzburg Training Center (wbz), which is certified in accordance with ISO 21001:2018, is part of the Lenzburg Vocational School (BSL).
Around 1,300 adults attend our courses every year.

Questions and answers

The automotive diagnostician training with a federal certificate can be completed with two different specializations, one in "commercial vehicles" and the other in "passenger cars". However, the following modules are mandatory for both specializations:

  • Vehicle electrical electronics
  • Comfort and safety systems
  • Driving assistance and infotainment systems
  • Customer relations

In addition, separate modules in the areas of chassis, engine and power transmission are offered for both specialist areas.

Anyone wishing to be admitted to the Federal Professional Examination for the Federal Certificate of Competence in Automotive Diagnostics must meet the following requirements:

  • 4-year basic training in automotive engineering and 2 years of professional experience
  • 3-year basic training in automotive engineering and 5 years of professional experience
  • Vocational trainer certificate
  • Refrigerant authorization
  • Completion of the required areas of competence

Continuing education, further training as an automotive diagnostician is part-time. It takes two to three years. Enquire with the provider.

Graduates of the continuing education, further training to become an automotive diagnostician with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education are able to take on a management position in an automotive company. To this end, they have comprehensive technical, practical and diagnostic skills and can respond to individual customer needs. Automotive diagnosticians recognize technical correlations quickly and reliably, are competent in dealing with customers and have good negotiating skills. They are able to understand and diagnose complex electronic, electrical and mechanical systems, can assess the consequences of their actions and have a strong sense of quality, the ability to work in a team and organizational skills.

The continuing education, further training is divided into individual modules, each of which is completed with a certificate examination.

The areas of vehicle electrics and electronics, comfort and safety electronics, driver assistance and infotainment as well as customer relations will be addressed for both specialist areas, passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

Depending on the specialization, the areas of chassis, engine and power transmission are studied in depth.
