Questions and answers

To work as a car salesperson, you will primarily need professional experience in car sales within Switzerland. Specialist continuing education, further training such as the Federal Professional Examination for Automotive Sales Consultants (EFA) is also highly recommended in order to work professionally in customer service consulting.

There is no fixed background that a prospective car salesperson must have. In addition to basic vocational education and training in any industry or comparable education, you must have at least two years of experience in automobile sales, and at least seven years (4 in Switzerland) if you have no basic education.

The car salesperson course is a continuing education, further training course that leads to a Federal Professional Examination (FPE) to become an "Automobile Sales Consultant with a Federal Professional Certificate".

Eight modules must be completed before the Federal Professional Examination for continuing education, further training as a car salesperson or automobile sales consultant with Federal Diploma of Higher Education. These are: Sales psychology and personality development; sales communication and sales methodology; administration and IT; accounting; sales-related product knowledge, business and work organization; insurance and law; marketing and the automotive market.
