Questions and answers

In many cases, students are expected to demonstrate a certain percentage of professional activity as part of their course of study, but not in all cases. For example, a Bachelor in Nursing is possible as a "Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)", which is offered part-time in the main course / postgraduate course and a professional activity of up to 50 percent is possible, but not mandatory. This means that a bachelor's degree in nursing is also suitable for family men and women who cannot afford to study full-time for time or family reasons. However, please always clarify this with the Director of Studies in advance. However, this degree program is explicitly aimed at qualified nurses CHE.
It is not always easy to decide on the right course of study or the right apprenticeship from the wealth of offers. This decision takes time and sufficient knowledge about the individual professions, their activities, tasks and career prospects. Take this time and do your research. Ask some of the Universities of Applied Sciences that offer a Bachelor's in Nursing for documents about the course and have them sent to you by email (via our contact form). In this way, you can also gather information on alternative training courses, such as a Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy, nutritional counseling, physiotherapy or midwifery, if these interest you. Equipped with all this knowledge, you may not be able to make a definitive choice, but you can probably rule out some training courses. It is also always a good idea to apply for an internship in the healthcare sector during your vacation and ask about the possibility of accompanying a UAS nursing specialist and getting to know their everyday working life.

To work in nursing, you should be very resilient, have great empathy and extensive self and social skills. You should have good observation and communication skills, be sociable, have a great sense of responsibility and be able to act with an open mind. You are expected to have a sound knowledge of biology and the natural sciences, be interested in an academic career and be able to work diligently even before studying for a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. You should be aware that people with a bachelor's degree in nursing are not exclusively responsible for patient care, but are primarily responsible for administrative tasks and managing teams. Therefore, please inform yourself sufficiently about the activities of nursing graduates.

Of course, you will not only be familiarized with the theoretical aspects of the Bachelor's in Nursing, but will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience throughout your studies. This takes place as part of work placements, which you complete at various care facilities. Depending on the Universities you attend, the number and duration of internships may vary, so please contact the relevant University of Applied Sciences directly for the exact structure of the practical training.
Yes, it is possible for you to attend a Bachelor's degree program as a qualified nursing specialist CHE and thus obtain a shortened Bachelor's degree in nursing. Depending on your previous education and motivation, you can complete a part-time Bachelor's degree in this way within 13 months to 5 semesters.
After successfully completing a nursing degree, such as a Bachelor in Nursing or a Bachelor in Nursing, you will have the opportunity to work in a wide variety of healthcare facilities and departments, such as psychiatry, long-term care, rehabilitation, acute care or outpatient care. You can find employment in nursing homes or hospices, with Spitex, in homes, clinics, hospitals, health centers, HMOs and in school health services. UAS nurses are also very often found in education, research and teaching, for example in vocational schools or Universities of Applied Sciences, at medical product manufacturers or in politics. UAS nurses are also often active in workplace health promotion and prevention, as independent consultants or employed by health insurance companies. The fields of work in private institutions or the public healthcare sector are wide-ranging and are sure to offer all graduates of a Bachelor's in Nursing exactly the right job.
