Bookbinder: An old profession with new specializations

The profession of bookbinder has been practiced since the Middle Ages and is still practiced today. The profession includes all the final steps after editing, layout, typesetting and printing, which bring a written work into its final form and bind it. This includes arranging the pages, uniting the various parts and the artistic design.

The profession has changed fundamentally over the last century. Today, it is offered as an apprenticeship with three different specializations, whereby industrial production clearly dominates over completely manual production.

Anyone who would like to learn the skills of bookbinding or who would like to refresh the knowledge they acquired in this field years ago - e.g. to make it easier for them to return to work - will find the opportunity to do so in certificate courses on bookbinding technology. It is not uncommon for courses in cardboard packaging and bookbinding to be modules of comprehensive certificate courses in the wide-ranging field of bookbinding and printing technology. In most cases, however, individual workshops can also be completed separately.

So if you are interested in a course in the integration of written works - whether for professional or simply for private creative reasons - you will find interesting course offers on Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch. The leading Swiss education portal presents the most prestigious courses from renowned training providers in all areas of education. If you would like to find out more about the costs, training dates or course content, you can contact the educational institutions directly online on the online platform - free of charge and without obligation.
