The further training course to become a management secretary is usually part-time and is aimed at people who already have a commercial and administrative qualification in the form of a commercial diploma or a commercial diploma with English as a foreign language. In addition, seminar participants are expected to have at least two years of professional experience in administration or business and be aiming to take on a managerial role.

There is no federal qualification for executive secretaries, but there is one for executive assistants with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education.

During the two-semester continuing education, further training to become a management secretary, you will receive in-depth training in German and English. Depending on the type of training to become a management assistant, the continuing education, further training can last between a few months (e.g. 3 months to become a head physician and management assistant with a school diploma), a year (e.g. to become a certified medical head physician secretary) or one to two years (e.g. to become a certified management assistant with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education). You will take the following examinations to complete your continuing education, further training as a management secretary:
  • Cambridge Business English Certificate Vantage or Preliminary (BEC)
  • ECDL Core and Advanced
