Spinal technique with prospects of success: The Dorn Method

There are many different spinal techniques in the therapeutic field. Spinal techniques are used when back, joint or knee pain is present and it is assumed that misalignments in the spine or pelvic bones are the cause. A very important spinal technique is, for example, the Dorn method. Bones are brought back into their original position by gently massaging and applying light pressure to certain points on the back. In this way, pelvic misalignments and displaced vertebrae can be corrected and pain can be relieved. The Dorn Breuss massage is reminiscent of chiropractic treatment, but its gentleness makes it more comfortable in some cases - especially for patients with severe pain.

Unlike many other treatment methods, with the Dorn method the results can be seen or felt immediately. In the rarest of cases, more than three treatments are necessary on one and the same area, which clearly speaks for the effectiveness of this treatment. In addition, there is virtually no risk of injury to the patient, as the massage is targeted but extremely gentle and, unlike chiropractic, the risk of injury is negligible.

Are you a medical masseur or classical masseur and would you like to gain additional qualifications through a course in the Dorn method? Are you looking for new professional challenges and would you like to gain further training in spinal techniques? Here on Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch you will find numerous courses offered by renowned massage schools. You can order free and non-binding information documents directly from the individual schools to get a more detailed overview of the courses on offer.

Questions and answers

An introductory course is designed to familiarize you with the subject matter and to see if you are comfortable with it. For this reason, in such a course you will only learn the theoretical basics of the Dorn method and how to mobilize the spine, but not how to treat problem cases and severe misalignments. You will learn this in an advanced course.

For basic training in the Dorn Method, you do not normally need any previous knowledge. However, before booking a seminar, please always enquire about the target group and the admission requirements for the training or continuing education, further training.

To learn the basics in a Dorn Method training course, interested parties usually attend a 1-2 day seminar. Following this basic training, you can deepen the subject in a usually one-day advanced course and, if you are interested, you can also choose an in-depth seminar that prepares you for the Dorn Association Switzerland examination or trains you in partial aspects of the Dorn-Breuss method. All these courses last approximately the same number of days, so that they can be completed alongside work. Ask the providers about the exact duration of the seminars.

We recommend that you do not just attend a basic course and then try out your acquired skills on a patient. Also consider whether you would like to learn the Dorn method exclusively or whether you would prefer to learn the Dorn-Breuss massage and practise regularly on friends and family until you feel confident in using it. Only then should you start using this method professionally.
