They also know and master the key parameters and decision-making approaches for investment decisions on financial markets and understand the influence of digitalization on the business models of financial service providers. Naturally, graduates of a Finance Master's degree also acquire comprehensive leadership, project and process management skills during their studies, which qualify them for a management role in practice.

Corresponding courses are offered at various colleges and universities. They usually last four to five semesters. A Bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for participation in a Finance Master's program, usually with a focus on economics. If students lack knowledge in areas such as business administration, economics, statistics and accounting, they can often take preliminary courses to acquire the necessary knowledge. In addition, advanced knowledge of written and spoken English is usually a prerequisite for admission and must be proven with a language certificate.

A Finance Master's degree is aimed at specialists from various fields and types of companies. For example, it is particularly suitable for prospective managers in financial institutions such as banks, financial services companies or pension funds, as well as for specialists and managers in corporate finance departments. The 3rd semester deals with more advanced topics in finance and offers a confrontation with the profession. Students can customize their course of study through electives.

The prospects after the Master's in Finance Banking is the doctorate / PhD. The doctorate in finance or financial accounting is obtained through a doctoral thesis. The topic of the doctoral thesis must be chosen in consultation with the responsible professor. The title is awarded after several years of research work.

After the third semester of the Finance and Banking Master's, you can extend your studies to increase your Master's by 30 ECTS credits, for example by validating a module in Data Science or Sustainability for a Master's in Finance with a focus on Data Science or Sustainability or by writing a research or internship thesis. The latter can be completed in a financial institution or in the finance department of a company.
