In order to be admitted to the qualification procedure (QV, also known as the final apprenticeship examination, LAP) to become a Federal VET Diploma cleaning technology specialist (formerly Federal VET Diploma building cleaner), you must have at least 5 years of professional experience, 3 of which must be in the field of building cleaning. Good written and spoken German (at least B2 level) is also important.

The Federal VET Diploma in Cleaning Technology (formerly Federal VET Diploma in Building Cleaning) adult education course lasts two years and is completed on a part-time basis.

Adult education to become a Federal VET Diploma cleaning technology specialist (formerly Federal VET Diploma building cleaner) is an in-service training course that prepares students for the qualification procedure.
Do I have to pay for catch-up training (Art. 32 BBV) to become a Federal VET Diploma cleaning technology specialist (formerly Federal VET Diploma building cleaner)?
As catch-up training in accordance with Art. 32 OPET takes place at schools, among other places, and the participants do not perform any work in return, as is usually the case with vocational education and training (VET), there are no costs for the entire training. These are as follows:
- Teaching materials and registration fees: approx. CHF 1'000.
- Lessons in special classes for adults (vocational and general education): approx. CHF 16,400 (depending on the school)
- Inter-company courses: approx. CHF 4,000
- Final examination: approx. CHF 1'000.
Different regulations exist with regard to the assumption of teaching costs by the canton.
