Duration and procedure

The continuing education courses to prepare for the professional examination to become an ICT Platform Development Specialist (formerly ICT System Technician and Network Technician) with a Federal Certificate of Proficiency (CP) are designed to be taken alongside work.
There are face-to-face courses and courses with blended learning (combination of face-to-face and online teaching).
The courses in platform development are modular in design and last 2-4 semesters (depending on the intensity).
For 3-semester courses in the attendance model, you usually have 1 day of lessons per week.
The federal examination takes place once a year and can be taken in German, French or Italian.

The course costs for preparing for the professional examination to become an ICT Platform Development Specialist with a federal certificate (BP) (formerly ICT system technician and network technician) are around CHF 13,500-15,000.
In some cases, additional costs are charged for enrollment, simulation tests, etc.
The fee for the federal examination is CHF 2,900 plus CHF 50 for the federal certificate (as of 2021; these fees are not included in the course costs).
The federal government provides financial support for higher vocational education and training.
