We offer basic vocational training as a computer scientist EFZ with a specialization in systems engineering or application development. As further training, we offer the Dipl. Techniker/in HF Informatik as well as professional examinations and higher professional examinations in the field of electrical engineering and courses of study at the Höhere Fachschule.
To start the EFZ computer scientist apprenticeship, you must have completed compulsory schooling (secondary level 1). Good grades in scientific subjects and English are important. Other important skills for working as a computer scientist are the ability to concentrate, quick comprehension, logical and abstract thinking and good spatial awareness. The ability to work in a team and a systematic approach to work are also helpful.
After obtaining the Federal Certificate of Proficiency in Computer Science, you can pursue a career in information and communication technology. EFZ computer scientists set up networks and develop programs. They have specialist knowledge of hardware and software and ensure that users can work smoothly, quickly and securely. EFZ systems technology computer scientists are particularly active in the area of network construction and administration. They install computers, printers and servers. They also ensure their security and stability. EFZ application development computer scientists develop and program software solutions in particular. This requires careful analysis of customer requirements, extensive testing, proper documentation and comprehensive user training.
In the two-year school-based practical training course, you will learn IT specialist knowledge in accordance with SERI guidelines and the ICT VET Switzerland modular system, supplemented by introductory courses, workshops and internships. The third and fourth years of training are then completed in an internship company, which you find nearby with the support of IBZ. The inter-company courses and examinations for general education - ÜK and ABU - are held at IBZ.
The tuition fee for training to become an EFZ computer scientist costs CHF 990 per month, plus a one-off registration fee of CHF 250. Further costs are usually covered by the training company. The recommended salary for the third year of training is around CHF 1,000 and around CHF 1,400 for the fourth year.
