Swiss Distance-Learning University of Applied Sciences (FFHS)
As a federally recognized university of applied sciences, Fernfachhochschule Schweiz (FFHS) has been offering part-time Bachelor's and Master's degree courses as well as continuing education courses since 1998. With over 20 years of experience in distance learning, it is the leading e-university in Switzerland and an alternative for students who want to combine work, family and studies.

FFHS offers degree programs in the blended learning model: 80% of your studies are completed in guided self-study via an online learning platform, 20% takes place as face-to-face teaching at one of the four campuses (Zurich, Basel, Bern or Brig).

In addition, FFHS also offers virtual classes for individual training and further education courses.
This is a new form of teaching that perfects location-independent study.

Important! This is explicitly a hybrid form and not a purely virtual class: some of the students and lecturers are on site, while other students take part online at the same time.

Questions and answers

The course is primarily aimed at non-law graduates who wish to train to become a legal specialist. You will acquire specialist legal knowledge and become a sought-after legal expert in your professional life. In IT law, you will provide well-founded answers to legal questions that arise in business practice. However, this does not make you a lawyer or specialist lawyer for IT law.

The CAS in IT Law is aimed at the following professional groups with several years of qualified professional experience:

  • Graduates of a Universities (University, FIT, UAS, UTE)
  • Graduates of Colleges of Higher Education
  • Holders of a federal certificate or a federal diploma

The CAS IT and Law (UAS) course is a CAS Certificate of Advanced Studies from a University of Applied Sciences.

Around 80 percent of the certificate training in IT and Law is completed as online and self-study, while 20 percent takes place in classroom teaching.

The costs for the CAS IT and Law are roughly in line with other CAS courses. To familiarize yourself with IT law, you should therefore expect to pay around CHF 5,500. Ask the University of Applied Sciences in advance about the price and the services included.

In the IT law course you will also learn about the following areas:

  • Data protection
  • Intellectual property (copyright)
  • E-commerce (conclusion of contracts on the Internet, applicable law, etc.) Records
  • Management (storage, archiving)

Not all processing of personal data requires the consent of the data subject. Consent must only be obtained if a processing activity cannot be justified in any other way. However, the prerequisite for effective consent is that the data subject has been adequately informed in advance.

The CAS IT and Law provides comprehensive know-how on the legal aspects of IT and IT contracts, records management, data protection and copyright. It also covers topics relating to business transactions on the Internet (e-business) and the risks and dangers of the Internet (cybercrime).
