Laser technology - a subject area with a future

Are you looking for further education in the field of light and optics? Then the Bachelor's degree course in Photonics is certainly an option worth recommending. A degree in this forward-looking field guarantees top career prospects. Photonics is the latest and most modern solution where the cyber world meets the physical production environment. Generic production steps are controlled using software-controlled laser technology. This versatile technology reduces the need for resources and enables non-contact and fast measurements for quality checks during production. This enables the best possible interaction between humans and robotics.

In the Bachelor's degree course in Photonics, students acquire comprehensive skills in the fields of optoelectronics, image processing, camera technology, infrared technology, display technology, lighting technology, illumination technology and laser technology. Their optical skills are thoroughly trained, making them sought-after specialists in the field of product development and production technology. The course also teaches comprehensive management and business administration skills. In the second part of the course, students have the opportunity to specialize in the field of photonics through in-depth modules and immediately set the course for their future engineering career. Among other things, intensive specialization modules are offered in the field of laser technology.

This Bachelor's degree trains the engineers of the future. After successful completion, graduates can expect numerous job opportunities and exciting and varied further training options in the fields of engineering, automation, lighting and illumination technology, robotics, laser material processing, etc.

You can find more detailed information on this course at Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch. Use the inquiry form to order detailed brochures directly from the training providers free of charge and without obligation.

Questions and answers

After successfully completing a Bachelor's degree in Photonics, graduates find employment primarily in the field of light and laser technology, for example in LED lighting technology, ophthalmology, materials processing or medical applications. However, they can also work in optotechnology and image processing, optical device applications and optoelectronics.

A Federal Vocational Baccalaureate in Engineering, Architecture or Life Science with a technical apprenticeship, for example as a computer scientist, micromechanic, telematics technician, network electrician, automation technician, multimedia electronics technician, electrical draughtsman, production mechanic, polymechanic, plastics technologist or in comparable technical professions are also possible qualifications, as are a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate or Specialized Baccalaureate and relevant professional experience of at least one year or, for part-time students, an integrated study internship. The Universities will inform you about the admission requirements and possible degrees (contact form).

Graduates of a degree course in the field of laser technology are awarded the degree "Bachelor of Science FHO in Photonics".

The Bachelor's degree course in Laser Technology (BA Photonics) can be completed as a full-time course with 3.5 days of lessons per week or as a part-time course with only 2 days of lessons per week.

During the Bachelor's degree course in Photonics, students acquire basic and in-depth knowledge of photonics, which is consolidated through laboratory experiments. In addition to knowledge of physics, electrical engineering and electronics, computer science, analysis, design, signal processing, linear algebra and control engineering, in-depth specialist skills in infrared technology, optics, optical measurement technology, optoelectronics, optical sensor technology and optical systems, laser technology, image processing, production development and technology, lighting and illumination technology, display and camera technology, mathematics and materials for electronics and optics are also taught. In addition, students focus on two main areas during their studies, such as optical design, circuit realization, construction, 3D image processing, optical metrology and lasers and materials. There are also modules on management and business administration.
