There are several federally recognized training courses in the field of leadership and also some certificate courses recognized by the Swiss Association for Leadership Education (SVE) in the areas of leadership and management, which also serve as the basis for Federal Professional Examination. As there is not just one very specific leadership training course, but a whole host of different courses, the target groups of the individual courses also differ greatly from one another. The majority of courses are aimed at people who already have many years of leadership experience and would like to specialize in further training. However, there are also some very interesting courses on offer for those who are not (yet) active as leaders but see their future in this direction, for example as SME businesswomen, in business management, coaching or in the form of leadership courses. The training and continuing education, further training courses provide sound knowledge and skills for working as a school principal and managing an educational organization.

Topics such as the Swiss Education System, leadership theories and leadership models, communication, conflict management, conducting discussions (e.g. in the event of termination of employment), moderation, personnel development and team building, teaching development taking into account the latest research results, accounting, school law, personnel law, data protection, project conception, project implementation, role reflection, etc. are covered.

This kind of management knowledge is transferable and applicable to practically any company or field of work, which is why people with these qualifications are in high demand on the job market.

If you want to acquire basic or in-depth leadership skills as quickly as possible, other continuing education, further training courses are available depending on your professional and educational qualifications. Certificate courses can vary greatly in duration, from several weeks to a year. Often such continuing education courses at university level extend over a period of 4 to 6 months, but sometimes even longer, so a CAS would certainly be a quick and yet extremely professional further training course. On the other hand, a course leading to the Federal Professional Examination (FPE) for SME Management Specialist with Federal Diploma of Higher Education takes 1 year, while a course leading to the Federal Diploma of Higher Education for Management Specialist only takes 3 months, depending on the school, and is part-time. Depending on your previous education, such a course in leadership could therefore be very suitable for you to quickly acquire sound knowledge and obtain a federally recognized qualification.

The education platform Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch conducted a survey to clarify this question. According to the results of the survey, 57% of all those interested in training are still finding out whether the SVEB - Zertifikat Ausbilder / Ausbilderin (Zert.) (formerly SVEB - Zertifikat Kursleiter / Kursleiterin (Zert.)) course meets their own needs. 27 %, on the other hand, are interested in further training through recommendations. 16% of survey participants are interested in the SVEB certificate, as this is often required in job advertisements. In the experience of our training consultants, most people who are interested in this further training are those who want to take on a new role in adult education or are already doing so and would like to acquire the necessary basic knowledge. This impression is also confirmed by most of these comments when stating optional reasons for their interest in the SVEB course:

Unfortunately, the Advanced Business Diploma HWS VSK is not sufficient for admission to the Federal Professional Examination (FPE). In order to be admitted to the FPE, you also need leadership training, but this can be acquired in just one semester. This is the Leadership Certificate of the Swiss Association for Leadership Training SVF, which, together with the diploma in Business Administration VSK, is sufficient as an admission requirement for the Federal Professional Examination.
