MAS Human Computer Interaction Design: Interdisciplinary part-time study program

Are you already working in the fields of design, computer science or psychology and want to deepen your know-how in software development, particularly in the field of human computer interaction? Then a postgraduate course with a Master's degree may be the best option for you. The Master of Advanced Studies MAS Human Computer Interaction Design (MAS HCID for short) provides you with an intensive introduction to the methodology of HCI and also teaches you the basics of computer science, psychology or design, disciplines that are foreign to you.

 

This interdisciplinary course will equip you with technological skills, sound design knowledge as well as psychological and social skills. Within three semesters, the continuing education master's program will provide you with knowledge in the following areas, among others:

- Psychology: communication, perception, learning, working

- Computer science: programming, user interfaces, models, architecture,

- HCI technology: observing, questioning, analyzing, prototypes, interfaces, accessibility

- Design: Visual communication, typeface, drawing, conception, typology, image, graphics, corporate design, color

The Master's program MAS Human Computer Interaction Design comprises 60 ECTS with 500 contact hours and 300 hours for the Master's thesis. There is also individual time for self-study.

Graduates of the continuing education master's program at the University of Applied Sciences are awarded the title "Master of Advanced Studies in Human Computer Interaction Design" by the University of Basel and HSR University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil.

The MAS Human Computer Interaction Design continuing education, further training is primarily aimed at psychologists, designers, organizers and computer scientists who want to expand their social and methodological skills, advance to project management and develop their professional skills.

A university degree and relevant professional experience of at least one year are required for participation in the MAS in Human Computer Interaction Design. Proven professional practitioners can be admitted on application.

The MAS Human Computer Interaction Design consists of two certificate courses and a Master's thesis. The first certificate course, "Requirements Engineering", teaches basic knowledge in the subjects of Computer Science I, Psychology, Computer Science II, as well as expanding skills in the subjects of Interdisciplinary Practical Project I, HCI Technology I, Process Models I and Social Competence. The "Interaction Design" certificate course comprises the subjects Psychology II, Design I, Design II, Interface Design, Procedure Models II, Evaluation Methods, Interdisciplinary Practical Project II, HCI Technology II.
