Anyone who has completed a degree in medical technology HF at a university of applied sciences works in a wide variety of areas. Medical technicians take on a great deal of responsibility and work independently in the area of installation, operation and monitoring of medical systems and equipment and always ensure that the devices are used properly and are safe to use. In cooperation with the manufacturers or specialist dealers of the systems and devices, they train doctors and healthcare staff and explain the correct handling and precise application. They recommend suitable technical devices to hospitals, clinics, laboratories, insurance companies and medical practices, procure them and are always available to answer questions about device technology. They are therefore an important key person between manufacturers and users of the systems and are responsible for flawless communication and processing. In the event of problems, medical technicians analyze the sources of errors and forward the information to the manufacturer's system technicians so that they can be rectified.

After studying medical technology HF, it is also possible to enter the research and development of medical devices. The path to self-employment as a medical device consultant or distributor is also open to successful graduates. The course is therefore very comprehensive and imparts extensive skills. In addition to in-depth knowledge of technology, various areas with a high practical component are taught, such as natural sciences, electronics, electrical engineering, control engineering, measurement technology, standardization, guidelines, regulations, product development and manufacturing, procurement, maintenance and support, and much more.

Anyone wishing to study medical technology must have completed an apprenticeship (EFZ) in a technical field or have completed training in medical technical radiology or biomedical analysis. Admission sur dossier is possible. In addition, skills such as a good grasp of technical matters and strong communication skills are required.
