The continuing education, further training in public transport (public transport specialist) with a federal certificate lasts 18 months. It takes place every two weeks on two weekdays while working. Find out more directly from the providers.

A public transport specialist (new: public transport specialist) is entrusted with the planning of public transport services and manages employees. They also have self-management, project management and leadership skills, which they acquire during continuing education, further training. Public transport specialists also have sound knowledge of marketing, which they use to acquire and retain customers.

Continuing education, further training as a public transport specialist leads to the title "Specialist in Public Transport with Federal Professional Examination", provided the Federal Professional Examination (FPE) has been passed.

For the Federal Professional Examination in Public Transport Specialist, participants must complete nine basic modules after two introductory days in business administration and economics. These modules are

• Offer planning
• Overall public transport system
• Marketing
• Production / Management
• Self-management
• Management Basis
• Event management
• Service and sales
• Process and project management

After completing these modules, the apprentices decide on a specialization, on which they also write a project paper. They can choose from the following:

• Complex resource planning
• Managing sales and marketing processes
• Leading your own department / team

People who already work in public transport and want to develop their career can be admitted to the Federal Professional Examination for Public Transport Specialists (formerly Public Transport Specialist), provided they have a Federal VET Diploma, a school-leaving certificate, a commercial or Specialized School diploma or comparable qualification and at least three years of professional experience, two of which must be in public transport.
