How do I become a pedicurist? What training and qualifications are there?

Training in pedicure or cosmetic foot care is not regulated (unlike medical foot care). Training providers are free to design their own courses.

The spectrum of courses on offer ranges from taster courses for those interested to in-depth and special courses for pedicurists who are already working professionally. Most courses lead to a school certificate; comprehensive training courses only award the certificate after passing a theoretical and practical examination.

Many course providers are members of one of the two relevant associations in Switzerland (Schweizerischer Fusspflegeverband SFPV, Berufsverband Fusspflege Schweiz BVFS), both of which also define quality standards for training and qualified work in pedicure.
