What qualification will I receive after training as a nursing assistant?
After completing the course for nursing assistants, you will receive an internal school certificate confirming your participation.
Do I already need certain experience for the nursing assistant course?
Experience in nursing, healthcare or social services is not necessary to attend the nursing assistant course. The course is aimed at beginners as well as those returning to the profession and private individuals who, for personal reasons, wish to be trained in the care of people in need of assistance.
Can I attend the nursing assistant course even if I work 100 percent?
Nursing assistant training takes place both on weekdays and on Saturdays. This means that you can generally pursue your professional activity, although a temporary reduction in your workload may be advisable. As the course days are known well in advance, you can plan ahead and inform your employer or seek a solution with them.
How long does training to become a nursing assistant take?
The basic nursing assistant course consists of a theoretical part of 120 hours or lessons and a nursing internship of 12 to 15 days. Overall, training to become a nursing assistant takes a few months. The training institute of your choice will be happy to provide you with more information.
What education do I need for the nursing assistant course?
No specific teaching or school qualification is required to participate in the nursing assistant course.
Do I have to meet certain criteria for admission to the nursing assistant course?
To be admitted to continuing education, further training as a nursing assistant, you must be at least 18 years old, resident in Switzerland and have Swiss citizenship or a B or C foreigner's permit. Good oral and written German language skills (level B1) and knowledge of Swiss German (comprehension) are also required. In addition, participants should be mentally, psychologically and physically healthy and have an interest in caring for people in need of help, especially the elderly.
