Phytotherapist - specialists in all aspects of herbal medicine

Numerous interesting courses are offered by renowned schools in the field of herbal medicine. These courses are aimed at both laypeople and professionals in the medical field, such as nurses, pharmacists, chemists, pharmaceutical assistants, nutritionists, naturopaths and even doctors who see the combination of phytotherapy with conventional medicine as an enrichment and would like to use medicinal plants responsibly in their professional environment as a phytotherapist.

Many clients still prefer to treat their illnesses, injuries or pain naturally, despite the advances in conventional medicine.

Herbal medicine is the oldest form of medicine and has been practiced in all cultures since time immemorial and passed down from generation to generation. In today's globalized world, we have the advantage of bringing together and using the best and most effective herbal medicine recipes and medicinal plants from all cultures. In various courses, participants can train to become renowned phytotherapists and address and serve more clients with this popular offer at their workplace or, for example, in their own practice.

To compare the various offers on the education market, we recommend visiting the education portal Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch. Thanks to the numerous renowned schools - especially in the field of naturopathy - you can choose between top offers that will qualify you as a professional phytotherapist. You will also find a wealth of important information about phytotherapy.

Questions and answers

After a basic course in herbal medicine lasting several days, you will probably not be able to run your own practice as a phytotherapist, as your knowledge and understanding of the effects and application of individual medicinal plants will not be extensive enough. For self-employment or a professional activity in herbal medicine, we recommend a comprehensive diploma course, possibly with method registration with the EMR or the ASCA. The individual schools will be happy to provide you with further information in this regard.

There is currently no federally recognized training as a phytotherapist.

  • Aloe
  • Anis
  • Arnika
  • Artischocke
  • Baldrian
  • Gewürzsumach
  • Johanniskraut
  • Melisse
  • Weissdorn
  • Sonnenhut

Admission criteria for the individual training and further training courses to become a phytotherapist vary depending on the training provider. For some, no specific prior knowledge is expected, while others require professional training in the healthcare sector. Please use our contact form or the "Ask a question" button to get in touch directly with the right contact person for phytotherapy training.

Basic courses in phytotherapy are offered for as little as a few days and go all the way up to a complete training course as a certified phytotherapist lasting two years or more.
