Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

The MAS in Rehabilitation Care FH program has a modular structure and consists of at least seven compulsory modules plus two elective modules and three modules for the Master's thesis.

The following seven modules form the modular system for this continuing education program:

- Clinical Assessment Rehabilitation Care

This module provides training in the correct way to collect data and information - an important basis for later professional nursing work at Master's level and a "must have" for future managers in nursing.

- Multi-professional assessment in rehabilitation care

The data collected using various assessment tools supports the professional groups involved in the selection of individual and targeted interventions. This information enables an efficient and effective rehabilitation process. Observations are underpinned by systematically collected data in Rehabilitation Care and made available to the entire treatment team.

- Rehabilitation between empiricism and science

Deals with the tension between experience-based (empirical) and research-based knowledge and its impact on nursing care.

- Family Care

The demographic ageing of society and advances in medicine have led to much longer treatment and care arrangements. What are the consequences for relatives? Also part of the training in Rehabilitation Care.

- Psychosocial support

During the module, the participants deal with their own image of humanity, their basic attitude in building relationships and with the psychosocial, systemic and spiritual consequences of an illness on the person affected. Another topic in this module of Rehabilitation Care is the crisis and how to deal with it.

- Patient and family education

Interventions of education, information and counseling with the aim of promoting the ability of patients and their relatives to self-manage and actively support them through health professionals.

Questions and answers

Participants in the MAS in Rehabilitation Care should expect to study for at least 24 months. As the MAS has a total of 60 ECTS credits and therefore around 1800 learning hours, it is also advisable to extend the continuing education, further training over a longer period of time, depending on your time availability.

In addition to the Master of Advanced Studies in Rehabilitation Care with 60 ECTS, it is also possible to obtain a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) with 30 ECTS and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) with 15 ECTS. In this case, a CAS consists exclusively of three modules, which can be selected from the following (as at 2017) Clinical Assessment, Basics Neuro / Stroke, Early Rehabilitation Neuro / Stroke, Concepts of Rehabilitation.

Graduates of the MAS in Rehabilitation Care are entrusted with the collection and assessment of patients' clinical signs and incorporate these into therapy coordination and planning. Their services are evidence-based and build on assessments for which they collect data or on studies. You are responsible for providing targeted support to rehabilitation patients and their relatives and, thanks to continuing education, further training, you are equipped for the future challenges of the rehabilitation sector.

The MAS in Rehabilitation Care is aimed at healthcare professionals and nursing staff who are responsible for patients in outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation institutions.

A university degree is expected of those interested in the MAS in Rehabilitation Care, but persons with a CHE degree, continuing education, further training of at least 100 hours, three years of professional experience (instead of two years for university graduates) and an admission module on research and assessment of research results can also be admitted to the continuing education master's program with a "sur dossier" admission.
