Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

Efficient and effective management is of central importance in the healthcare sector. It is a fundamental element in ensuring high-quality, professional care in everyday clinical practice (for example in a hospital or care home). In order to make this possible, managers are dependent on the specialist knowledge and experience of employees. A management model is therefore required that enables a good balance between the division of tasks and power as well as the support and promotion of employees. In this context, the management style of shared governance, which minimizes the top-down approach, is becoming increasingly popular.

Shared governance refers to a type of process or structure that emphasizes equity, ownership, partnership and accountability. The aim of this management style or care practice is to leave the authority and responsibility for practical decisions to those who will actually implement the decisions, such as care professionals. However, this does not mean that there is no longer a boss in shared governance or that management responsibility is dispensed with. But it does mean, for example, that the management defines the relevant criteria, such as budget, quantity or suppliers. The group concerned develops proposals based on the specified parameters, which are selected through a joint decision-making process.

Shared governance and the principle that decisions are made by people who also work in nursing not only offers the opportunity to identify future managers, but also increases the satisfaction and working environment of nursing staff and thus builds stronger loyalty.

Are you interested in shared governance and would like to learn more about how it can be applied and implemented in practice? Then you are in the right place with the right training on the subject.
