What are the main disadvantages of the social pedagogue CHE training program?
The CHE social pedagogue course enables you to help people in difficult life situations to cope with and organize their everyday lives and leisure activities. In doing so, it is important to improve the quality of life of the people receiving care and to give them the greatest possible autonomy.
The main disadvantages of the social pedagogue CHE training program are:
- The training period of approx. 3 to 4 years requires a high level of time commitment and a high degree of self-discipline and motivation. In the part-time variant, practical work (at least 50%) offers variety.
- Despite cantonal contributions, a budget of around CHF 6,000 to CHF 12,800 must be expected for the entire social pedagogue CHE training program, depending on the school.
- Depending on the work context, social pedagogues CHE are in more or less close contact with the people they support. They also work together with doctors, nurses, psychologists and social workers, for example, and are in contact with the authorities and relatives of the people receiving care. The work requires flexibility and adaptability. The working hours can be irregular and in some facilities the specialists also have to work at weekends and at night.
- After training as a social pedagogue CHE, it is important to stay on the ball: The profession is adapting to social changes, e.g. individual care or care at home is becoming increasingly important. Continuing education, further training allows professionals to specialize in different areas of care.
Social pedagogues CHE work in various institutions, e.g. in homes for children, young people, people with disabilities or addiction problems, in socio-medical institutions, in youth welfare offices, in school or vocational integration, in emergency wards, prisons or sheltered housing.
