Foreign language skills are not necessarily required for a language study trip where you want to learn English. In addition to advanced courses and language diploma courses, language courses are also offered for beginners who have very little or no knowledge of English. A distinction is made between beginner level A0 and basic level A1, between language beginners who have no knowledge of English or who may have learned the language in the past but cannot form a coherent sentence or understand even simple sentences, and people who understand short sentences and can speak the simplest sentences, albeit grammatically incorrect.

Most language schools offer English language courses for a language stay that specifically prepare students for language diplomas, such as the Cambridge First Certificate in English FCE. These courses usually run over a period of 8 to 12 weeks and are timed to coincide with the examination dates of the exam, which can be taken four times a year.

The choice of countries where you can learn English on a language study trip is considerable, although most language providers mainly offer language courses in up to ten countries. Australia, England, New Zealand, Canada and the USA are among the most popular destinations, but language courses are also offered in Malta, South Africa, Ireland, Scotland and Singapore.

With very few exceptions, English language courses during a language study trip only take place on weekdays and not at weekends.

Those who want to learn English during a language study trip usually opt for accommodation with a host family. However, it is also possible to opt for other types of accommodation, such as hotels or studios, which can also be booked through the language schools. Some schools also offer student residences / student houses where you can live in shared, double or single rooms. However, you should bear in mind that living with a host family, especially if there is no other German-speaking student living there, will have a much greater learning effect than in other types of accommodation, as you will be forced to communicate exclusively in English and therefore also have to use the language in your free time.

A language study trip to learn English is not only the ideal way for young people and adolescents to learn the language or improve their language skills, but is also suitable for all age groups. This is why language schools usually offer special courses for other age groups in addition to language trips for young people. In addition to language courses for young adults (aged 18 and over), courses are also offered for those aged 25 and over, and more rarely for 30+. There are also special Business English courses for business English, in which the average age is usually higher than in conventional language courses. This also applies to diploma courses that prepare students for language diplomas such as the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) or Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or other English diplomas.
