Calculation in detail

Continuing education, further training as a technical business administrator FPE:

  • 24 months part-time
  • School fees, documents: CHF 14,250 minus CHF 6,780 federal contribution = CHF 7,470
  • Exam fee: CHF 1'800
  • Total training costs: CHF 9'270

Wage difference and yield calculation:

  • Difference in salary between the job as a polymechanic Federal VET Diploma and the job as a technical clerk: CHF 6,103 - CHF 5,156 = CHF 947 per month and CHF 11,364 per year (12 x CHF 947 = CHF 11,364)
  • He recoups the total training costs of CHF 9,270 in just under 10 months with his higher salary as a technical business management assistant (CHF 9,270 / CHF 947 per month = 9.8 months)
  • In the remaining 39 years until his retirement (26 to 65), this additional income will add up to CHF 443,196 (39 x CHF 11,364 = CHF 443,196)
  • If the training costs are deducted from this additional income, an additional sum of around CHF 433,926 remains at his disposal(CHF 443'196 - CHF 9'270 = CHF 433'926)
