Is this concern so important to you that you even want to work for it in your everyday professional life and are considering whether you should study at a university to become an environmental engineer? If you have a school-leaving certificate or vocational baccalaureate, then there are no more obstacles in your way and you can pursue your goal without any detours.

 

Take a look at the educational opportunities in the field of natural sciences. Many universities offer competent courses to become an environmental engineer. Take the plunge and work towards an environmentally friendly world. Try to promote respect for nature, people and the environment. In order for life to continue to function as it does today, the careful use and conservation of natural but unfortunately scarce resources is of great importance. By studying to become an environmental engineer, you will learn the science of nature and how to deal with it effectively. The degree course is varied and divided into different directions. You can choose between the following specializations: Environmental Education; Horticulture, Renewable Resources and Renewable Energies, Nature Management and Urban Horticulture.

Questions and answers

You have the option of studying for a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering at the ZHAW on a full-time or part-time basis. If you study part-time, you study on fixed days of the week so that you can continue to work.

Not only at a University of Applied Sciences do you have the opportunity to train as an environmental engineer, you can also study environmental engineering with a Bachelor's degree at Federal Institutes of Technology (FITs).

In the Bachelor's degree program in Environmental Engineering, you choose a specialization in one of five areas: Nature Management; Renewable Energy and Eco-Technology; Agriculture and Horticulture; Urban Ecosystems; Environmental Systems and Sustainable Development. If you are interested, you can add a minor, for example in species knowledge, field diagnostics and analytics, life cycle assessment and label management and others.

A Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training with Federal Vocational Baccalaureate does not necessarily have to be completed in a technical field for the Bachelor's degree course in Environmental Engineering UAS. Examination-free admission is also possible in a biological or chemical profession. With a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate in another field with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, proof of at least one year's work experience in the environmental field must be provided, as is the case with a Baccalaureate or Specialized Baccalaureate.

You will need six semesters of full-time study to complete your degree in Environmental Engineering BA and eight to twelve semesters of part-time study, depending on the intensity of the course.
