The grammar school is a public or privategeneral school at upper secondary level.It prepares students for the Matura examinations and concludes with thegymnasiale Maturadegree. This qualification is federally recognized and certifies a broad general education and general university entrance qualification.

The grammar school can alsoAdultsafter compulsory schooling attend so-calledMatura schools for adults. These are special courses with various part-time and self-study models that can be attended alongside work and prepare students for the Federal Matura.
The gymnasiale Matura is theAdmission tickettoUniversity professions:It gives its holders access to all* Bachelor's degree programs at Swiss universities, ETHs and teacher training colleges PH. After the Bachelor's degree, the career can continue with a Master's degree and perhaps a doctorate in a variety of demanding professions from agricultural scientist to zoologist.
The Matura also enables examination-free access to many foreign universities and colleges.
