The 10th school year can cost up to 2,000 francs per month. That's a lot of money. But if you use the year as a springboard into a more exciting working life, then it's definitely worth it.
At some schools, the costs depend on the parents' income. But you or your parents may not have to pay for the entire 10th school year. Many cantons contribute to the costs; some even cover them completely. Cost sharing or assumption of costs is usually linked to conditions, in particular registration by the school service and compliance with the learning and performance agreements.
Some schools have their own scholarship fund from which you can receive grants in addition to the cantonal contributions. These contributions are also dependent on a recommendation or registration by the school services and on your behavior and performance.
