Do I already need professional experience in agronomy to start the Agro Business Management course?
It is indeed necessary that you have gained at least one year of professional experience in agronomy/agriculture after your basic training before you register for the training to become a certified agricultural business management assistant.
What apprenticeships can I do in the agricultural sector?
In the field of agronomy, there are many different types of training and continuing education, further training that can either provide you with basic training or targeted training. In agronomy, for example, you can complete basic training as an agricultural practitioner with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET), become a farmer with a Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training (VET), a winegrower with a Federal Vocational Education and Training (VET), a fruit specialist with a Federal Vocational Education and Training (VET) or a market gardener with a Federal VET Diploma. Other apprenticeships are also possible. There are also courses available at Colleges of Higher Education (CHE), such as the degree course in Agricultural Business Management (CHE), Agricultural Technician (CHE) or Viticulture Technician (CHE). Agricultural courses are also available at Universities of Applied Sciences and universities, such as the Bachelor of Agronomy (UAS) with specializations in agricultural economics, plant sciences and ecology, equine sciences, livestock sciences or international agriculture, as well as the Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences (Uni) with specializations in agricultural sciences and agricultural and resource economics. In addition to these courses, you will find a large selection of continuing education, further training with Federal Professional Examination (FPE), Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), in the form of Master's degree courses or postgraduate courses (CAS, DAS, MAS).
How is the continuing education, further training to become a certified agricultural business management assistant CHE structured?
The continuing education, further training in agricultural business management CHE was designed to be part-time and takes place all day on Saturdays. In addition, a project week is held each semester. Over the course of six semesters, there are approximately 1,470 lessons covering four major subject blocks, for which you will take different types of performance assessments in order to obtain the agronomy diploma.
Is the agricultural business management course an apprenticeship?
The training to become an agro-industrial clerk is not an apprenticeship, but a continuing education, further training that requires a completed initial training in the field of nature or a qualification at upper-secondary level (sur-dossier admission). The continuing education, further training is carried out at a College of Higher Education (CHE) and prepares students for a position in the management of an agronomy business.
What topics are covered in the CHE course in agronomy?
The continuing education, further training in agronomy to become an Agro Business Management Assistant CHE covers four subject areas: Agricultural Markets; Marketing and Sales; Business Management; and Fundamentals. Agribusiness, agricultural trade and economics are covered in the first subject area, marketing and sales, as well as communication in the second. In the area of business management, you will take the following subjects: logistics; business management and organization; personnel management; accounting and controlling. The subjects statistics and commercial arithmetic; German; French; IT; correspondence; commercial law fall under the subject area "Fundamentals".
