Swiss Automobile Industry Association (AGVS)
The Auto Gewerbe Verband Schweiz (AGVS), founded in 1927, sees itself as a dynamic and future-oriented industry and professional association for Swiss garage owners. Around 4000 small, medium-sized and larger companies, brand representatives and independent businesses are members of the AGVS.

Working in a fascinating world
People who work in the automotive industry operate in a fascinating world: powerful engines, tuned sports cars, fuel-efficient hybrid cars, state-of-the-art trucks. But that's not all. There is a car to suit every need. That's why the automotive industry is ahead in many areas of automotive technology.

We take care of 5.5 million vehicles
But building vehicles is only one thing. It is just as important to maintain and repair the 5.5 million vehicles in Switzerland. The 5200 garages are responsible for this. 4000 of them belong to the professional and industry association AGVS. They have 39,000 employees. Of these, 8500 are apprentices. Because the mobility of people and goods is increasing, garages will continue to need many good professionals in the future - people like you.

Questions and answers

It is not essential that you have completed an apprenticeship with a Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ) or Federal Vocational Certificate (EBA) in order to be admitted to the BP Automotive Sales Consultant professional examination with a Federal Certificate of Competence. In this case, however, you are expected to have at least seven years of professional experience in Switzerland, including at least four years in automobile sales. You must also provide proof of all the required module qualifications that you have completed during a preparatory course at a school or a certificate of equivalence.

In order to be admitted to the Federal Diploma of Higher Education (FPE) in Automotive Sales Consultant, candidates must pass 8 modules, each of which is concluded with an examination. You take these examinations at the end of each module block, which you complete as part of a preparatory course. Accordingly, in order to be allowed to take the Federal Professional Examination as a car consultant, you must attend a corresponding examination preparation course at a school that offers this.
In addition to your professional activity, you can complete continuing education, further training as an automotive sales consultant (FPE) and thus acquire a federally recognized certificate that opens up a wide range of career opportunities. The continuing education course lasts two semesters, i.e. one year.

The aim of further training to become a car sales advisor is not only to pass the professional examination (BP) and obtain a federal certificate, but above all to ensure that you will be able to apply the knowledge gained in the course in a targeted manner in your day-to-day work. For this reason, you will receive extensive training on various topics in preparatory courses, which will help you to deal with customers appropriately and successfully during your working hours. For example, you will learn how to develop your personality and self-confidence. You will learn about sales psychology and sales methodology, how a successful sales pitch should be conducted and which communication tools you should use. You will also acquire product knowledge, as well as knowledge about accounting, business and work organization, insurance and legal principles, marketing and administration.
