The IT Service Engineer CHE course is suitable for people who are interested in a career as an ICT Service Manager or ICT Change Manager, ICT System Specialist or ICT System Administrator, as well as an Application Manager, Network Administrator or Network Specialist. This course is also perfect for anyone who sees their future in IT service and support, as a database administrator, webmaster or ICT trainer.
How much time must be invested in IT Service Engineer training?
Training to become an IT Service Engineer HF at the College of IT Systems Engineering extends over 5 semesters, excluding preliminary courses, with one day of lessons and at least one evening lesson per week. In addition, there are 7 project weeks of 45 lessons each during the course, an intermediate examination after the 2nd semester and a diploma examination with diploma thesis. This means that the entire HF course consists of 1,690 classroom lessons, 720 lessons of professional activity, 390 lessons of diploma and semester work and 800 lessons of supervised and independent learning.
Note: Since fall 2022, the HF technician courses (formerly "Techniker HF Fachrichtung") have been given a separate framework curriculum and a new title for each specialization. For example, the course "Technician HF, specialization IT Services Engineering" is now called "Computer Scientist HF". In addition, the specializations Application Development, Systems Engineering and Computer Engineering have been abolished.
What are the main subjects taught in the IT Service Engineer course?
The IT Service Engineer course (new title: Computer Scientist HF) provides participants with extensive knowledge in the areas of leadership, communication and general education, including IT law, IT security, team leadership, knowledge management and personal development. There is also a foundation module with IT basics, IT basics practice, physics, computer technology and document creation. Building on this, students are offered content on business and organization (business administration basics, company organization, project management, quality), IT architecture (operating system, network architecture), IT engineering (including database design, web and database engineering, ITSM, network design, web publishing, ITSM design), IT transition and operation (ITSM application management, ITSM change management, database operation, network operation, ITSM optimization) as well as two freely selectable specializations.
How much does the IT Service Engineer CHE training program cost?
The costs for the CHE course to become an IT Service Engineer (new designation: Computer Scientist CHE) are between CHF 15,600 and CHF 22,300, including lessons and examination fees, depending on the school and canton of residence. Detailed information can be obtained directly from the training provider.
What are the admission requirements for the IT Service Engineer course?
The IT Service Engineer continuing education, Vocational Education and Training (new designation: Computer Scientist CHE) is open to professionals with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (preferably Computer Scientist) of at least 3 years' duration or another apprenticeship qualification and several years' experience in IT systems technology. Persons with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, Specialized Baccalaureate, Baccalaureate, technical secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification are also eligible. In addition, all applicants must have a good command of German and English, a very good basic education in IT and have worked at least 50% in IT during the CHE course. Ask the school of your choice about the applicable admission requirements.
What qualification do graduates of the IT Service Engineer course receive?
Graduates of this continuing education programme obtain the federally recognized and protected title: dipl. Informatiker HF / dip. Informatikerin HF (formerly dipl. Techniker/in HF, specializing in IT Service Engineer).
