Notary's assistant - the notary's right hand

Do you already have basic training in the commercial sector (e.g. as a businessman/woman) or did you work in a notary's office years ago, but your knowledge is no longer quite up to date? Would you like to leave the communal or cantonal administration sector and switch to the notarial sector as a notary's assistant - but do you still lack the in-depth know-how to do so?

Then you have the opportunity to acquire extensive and well-founded skills in the areas of notarial law, family law, inheritance law, tax law, personal law, company law, property law and land register law with the in-service certificate course as a notary's assistant or in a general introductory course to the notarial profession. The course is designed for both newcomers and those returning to the notarial profession. It enables participants to actively support and relieve notaries in all areas of day-to-day notarial practice. As a notary's assistant, you will be able to organize the various administrative notarial processes and take on the preparation of public deeds, the execution of register applications, the completion of forms and other various correspondence.

The continuing education, further training offered here to become a notary's assistant takes two semesters to complete and a further five months for the notary's assistant certificate.

You can become a notary's assistant, for example, by completing an apprenticeship as a Federal VET Diploma notary's assistant. It is also possible to become a legal secretary and then a notary's assistant with other previous training, such as a commercial diploma, a commercial secondary school, another Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, a school-leaving certificate or equivalent training and a subsequent further training course.

It is very possible to continue working during the course to become a notary's assistant. The course is a part-time continuing education, further training course and takes place on Saturdays, so that you can continue to work full-time during the week. Please note, however, that in addition to the classroom sessions at the school, there is also time for self-study, which means that you will have less time for your private life during this time.

The notary assistant training program provides you with comprehensive training in notarial law, legal theory, tax law and property and land register law within 120 lessons. You will learn about the notarial system in Switzerland, the duties of a notary, cantonal regulations, notarization procedures, accounting, personal law, matrimonial property and family law, guardianship law, contract law, company law, types of debt collection, withholding tax, appeal procedures, transfer of ownership, land charges, agricultural land law and much more.
