As a production specialist, you are an important player in Industry 4.0. You put new production technologies into practice and pay attention to the environmentally conscious and cost-effective use of resources. You will develop (automated) solutions and use your ideas to optimize manufacturing and production processes in the context of the fourth industrialization. In this way, you make a significant contribution to increasing production and to the success of a company. Production specialists: sought-after production experts and important players in Industry 4.0

Would you like to further your education in the field of manufacturing and production? Have you completed mechanical-technical training or an apprenticeship (EFZ) and have the relevant professional experience? Would you like to develop professionally and advance your career? Do you perhaps already have your sights set on a specific (higher) position?

Training as a production specialist (formerly production specialist) with a federal certificate offers you an ideal opportunity to expand and deepen your knowledge, skills and abilities in production and manufacturing processes. You will be taught the necessary theory on topics such as technical calculations, working methods, process control and resource management, which you can then implement and apply in your company. If you have any questions or problems, the extra-occupational concept of the course for production specialists also gives you the option of contacting the experienced teaching staff. They are sure to have a tip or solution to hand for individual and company-specific questions. With a federal certificate as a production specialist, you will be in high demand on the job market and have a good chance of taking on a higher position with more responsibility and development opportunities.

As a specialist for production and manufacturing processes and workflows, you form the central link between the company management and the employees. You will contribute your Industry 4.0 expertise to the planning process and take responsibility for managing a small team. As a production specialist, you are familiar with the production systems that are operated in the company. Not only can you use them competently, but you also know how to help yourself in the event of malfunctions and can analyze and evaluate minor problems yourself and develop solutions or solve the problem immediately. You will also carry out minor maintenance work.

Would you like to obtain a federal certificate in just two semesters and improve your career prospects? Are you interested in Industry 4.0? Its significance and possible implementation in industrial production and manufacturing? Then the Production Specialist course is probably just right for you.

On Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch you will find offers from first-class schools on the subject. You can use the inquiry form to order free, online and non-binding course documents. You can also contact the provider of your choice and arrange a personal consultation, for example. If you have already decided on an educational offer, then reserve one of the coveted places on courses to prepare for the professional examination.

Questions and answers

In order to be admitted to the federal vocational examination (BP) for production specialists with a federal certificate, a federal certificate of competence (EFZ) as a polymechanic, design engineer, mechanic, production mechanic or an equivalent certificate must be presented.

In addition, you must have two years of relevant professional experience for a four-year basic training course or three years of professional experience for a three-year basic training course in the mechanical-technical sector.

Finally, you must have the required module qualifications.

At most schools, the course to become a production specialist with a federal certificate forms the first year of the diploma course to become a production technician (HF).

Graduates of the vocational examination for production specialists not only have a federal certificate, but have also completed the first year of the three-year HF course.

Now you can become a "Graduate technician HF mechanical engineering, production technology" further education.

The preparatory courses for the vocational examination for production specialists are modular in structure, very practice-oriented and designed to be taken alongside work. This means that professional activity is not only possible, but also highly desirable or indirectly required.

For example, two years of professional experience for a four-year basic training course or three years of professional experience for a three-year basic training course in the mechanical-technical sector is one of the admission criteria for the federal examination for production specialists, in addition to the Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ - also in the mechanical-technical sector).

It also gives you the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice and apply it - this is also crucial for the project work you have to write. Here you have to work on a topic from your own working environment and write or document it.

With a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training as a polymechanic, the following further training opportunities are open to you:

  • Federal Diploma of Higher Education (FPE): e.g. Production Specialist, Aircraft Technician - Mechanics / Avionics, Automation Specialist, Technical Business Administrator
  • Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) for Industrial Master Craftsperson
  • College of Higher Education e.g. qualified technician CHE mechanical engineering, qualified technician CHE systems engineering, qualified technician CHE microtechnology
  • University of Applied Sciences (with Federal Vocational Baccalaureate): With the appropriate previous school education, e.g. Bachelor of Science (UAS) in mechanical engineering, in mechatronics, in systems engineering or in automotive and vehicle technology

It is not mandatory to pass the professional examination (BP) to become a production specialist with a federal certificate in order to transfer to the Production Engineering HF degree program.

However, the course for production specialists is the first year of the HF course. You would therefore have already completed 2 of the 6 semesters of the HF course to become a production technician - and at the same time have a federal certificate in your pocket, which is in high demand on the job market.
