Language school Italy: Learn perfect Italian.

Have you been dreaming of brushing up your Italian or finally learning the language from scratch? Or are you looking for a meaningful vacation activity for your children where they can both learn and have fun? Then a professional language school in Italy is probably the right choice for you or your child.

A language school in Italy offers the advantage that what you learn can be applied directly in everyday life and you are constantly confronted with the new language. This promotes the learning effect and helps you to learn Italian more quickly and easily than would be possible at home. To learn Italian at a language school in Italy, you generally don't need any previous knowledge. Almost every school offers suitable courses for both beginners and advanced learners.

Find out more about the individual schools at www.ausbildung-weiterbildung.ch and find out which courses are on offer in the portraits. Request training documents without obligation. Then compare the offers, prices and of course the services and decide on the language school in Italy that meets your expectations.

Questions and answers

Many language schools are fully booked well in advance, especially during the summer vacation period, so it makes a lot of sense to look into the subject a few months in advance and choose the right language school in Italy. Once you have done this, it is advisable to register in order to get a free place on the language course you want and in the type of accommodation you prefer. Host families and other accommodation close to the language school in particular can be booked up very quickly, as can accommodation in a prime location, for example close to the beach. If you have any special requests in this regard, at least three months before the start date is a good time to register. This is also a good time to get cheaper flights. You should register for an Italian course at least six weeks before the start of the course, even if you have no special requirements for the course and accommodation, so that you have enough time to plan everything else.
The things you should pack in your suitcase also depend on the type of accommodation you have chosen. With some host families, your laundry will also be washed, so you will need to take far fewer clothes with you than in a student residence, for example. However, even this often offers a washing machine for general use, as do shared flats, so you don't necessarily have to take new clothes with you for every day you spend at a language school in Italy. Laundromats can also be found in the larger cities. As well as clothes, you should always pack some personal hygiene products, as you probably won't be able or want to go shopping on the first day of your arrival. Everything you need at home should also be available here, albeit in smaller quantities. It is best to buy small portions (shampoo, shower gel) and, if necessary, buy more locally. A first-aid kit is also useful and should include at least a few plasters, headache tablets and possibly nasal spray, as well as after-sun spray and ointment against mosquito bites. Remember your cell phone or an alarm clock so that you can get to the language school in Italy on time, as well as any power plugs and chargers (e.g. for your camera). A keeper's book and writing utensils for the Italian course should also be in your luggage, as well as handkerchiefs, travel reading material and perhaps a travel guide. If you are staying by the sea, don't forget a bath towel. If you are staying with a host family, it is a nice gesture to pack a small souvenir for each family member or the whole family. You also need to remember all the important documents such as your passport and tickets.
In all your planning for a language study trip to Italy, you should not forget that in addition to the costs of travel to and from the school, Transfair, the Italian course, accommodation, meals, course materials, insurance and much more, pocket money should also be factored in as an expense item. The amount of money that you or your child has at their disposal varies depending on the language school in Italy. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, it depends on where exactly you are attending a language school. In large cities, the cost of living is often higher, for example because you are forced to take a bus to get from your accommodation to the language school, you have a very large selection of cafés and restaurants where people like to go and in many places you have to pay an entrance fee. On the other hand, the amount of pocket money also depends on which leisure activities are offered and organized by the school and which of these are already included in the price. Especially in the case of student language trips, the complete leisure program during the week and often even excursions at the weekend are already included in the course costs, so that only personal purchases for postcards or sweets are added. For adult language courses, the language school in Italy usually also offers a leisure program, but this is not always free of charge. Water skiing, golf or special courses usually have to be paid for separately, while activities such as volleyball or football are included. Students should expect to receive pocket money of around 100 euros per week, adults 200 euros.
If you realize during your language study trip to a language school in Italy that the language course you have chosen does not meet your expectations or needs, you can usually change it, provided that there is sufficient capacity in your preferred course. This is particularly common in the case of longer language stays, where some language students learn faster than others and therefore want to switch to a course at a higher language level earlier, for example from A2 to B1. However, it is also common to find that the type of language course you have chosen does not suit you, for example in a standard course with 20 lessons per week and 15 participants. Either because you would prefer to learn more Italian and want to switch to an intensive course or because you want to be in a course with fewer language students and therefore want to join a mini-group. The latter can often be more difficult, as the number of participants should not usually exceed 6 students. If you decide to change courses during your language study trip and would prefer to switch to a course with more students or fewer lessons, you should note that the difference in price is not always paid out to you, i.e. you still pay the same amount as booked despite having fewer services. It is best to clarify this at home with the relevant language school in Italy or the organizer.
When booking an Italian language course at many language schools in Italy, you have the choice between standard classes and mini-groups. The class size of standard classes usually varies between 10 and 15 students, with a maximum of 15 students at most language schools. Mini-groups often have a maximum number of 6 students, so that effective learning and lively conversation can be ensured. At some language schools in Italy you can also find small group courses with 3 students present, and there are also occasional couple courses where you can take part in Italian lessons exclusively with your partner, best friend, daughter or another person. In one-to-one lessons, you are of course the only participant that the language teacher looks after. You decide for yourself which option you prefer and how important the size of the group is to you. Please note that the price of the Italian course also depends on the number of participants - the more people take part, the cheaper it is.
