How is training as an event technician structured?
The event technician training course comprises a total of five modules (A-E), whereby modules D and E are completed depending on the chosen specialization, i.e. stage or lighting.
The other modules cover topics such as organizing an event, drawing up technical plans or ensuring safety.
What do I learn in an event technician training course?
Event technician training covers the following topics, among others:
- Concept development for assembly/dismantling/storage
- Create and control budget plan
- Organization of technical materials
- Create a production dossier
- Establishment of a stable network infrastructure
- Checking and adapting the infrastructure at the event location
- Create a safety concept under the given regulations
- Development of a complex stage plan (2D/3D)
- Professional guidance for employees
What can I do after graduating as an event technician?
The professional examination to become an event technician opens doors to further training or further education at higher vocational training or university level. For example, it is possible to attend courses in related disciplines at a higher technical college (HF), such asTechnician HF Electrical Engineering.
Depending on the subject, it may also be possible to study at a university of applied sciences (FH). For example, you can do a Bachelor's degree in a related subject, such asBachelor FH in Electrical Engineeringcomplete the course. The admission requirements may vary depending on the provider. In addition, the courses of the Swiss Association of Technical Stage and Event Professions SVTB can of course be attended.
Who can train as an event technician?
The following requirements must be met in order to complete training as an event technician:
- Apprenticeship in a technical profession, such as event specialist EFZ, electronics technician EFZ, IT technician EFZ, electrician EFZ or building IT technician EFZ and at least 3 years of professional experience in the areas of lighting and/or staging
Or
- Apprenticeship in another field, e.g. cook or carpenter or a high school diploma and 5 years of professional experience in lighting and/or stage work
