Event technicians: technical professionals for events

Event technicians take care of the technical side of organizing cultural, artistic or business events. They design, plan and implement the installation and dismantling of technical facilities, parts and equipment, such as podiums, screens, mixing consoles, spotlights or loudspeakers. They ensure compliance with safety-related aspects. They also draw up resource (personnel, logistics, materials) and budget plans and monitor costs.

Education:Training/further training to become an event technician has been available since 2000 and can be completed in the fields of lighting or stage. It concludes with a federal certificate (FA), which is well established on the Swiss job market and is correspondingly popular with employers.

Relevance:The changes and developments in technology are characterized by a constantly high pace and increasing complexity. The demand for qualified specialists with the necessary theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience is high.

Place of work:Event technicians usually work in the technical departments of theaters, cultural and congress centers, television stations, concert venues, circuses, film production companies or in service or event companies.

Personal requirements:Technically adept, flexible and stress-resistant professionals with a keen eye for the big picture and who enjoy working in teams, who see technology as their calling in the event industry and would like to take on more responsibility in the future, are in the right place with an event technician apprenticeship/further training.
