What activities do maintenance managers perform?
Qualified maintenance managers are responsible for the maintenance of facilities and systems in building services and industrial production. They are responsible for drawing up concepts, planning and managing implementation and ensuring optimum operation. They are entrusted with preparing value analyses, determining key figures, profitability calculations and defining maintenance requirements, determining service levels, controlling, preparing maintenance budgets, resource planning and logistical planning. They also manage, organize, coordinate and monitor the work and their employees.
What are the requirements for continuing education, further training as a maintenance manager?
The admission requirements for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination "Head of Facility Management and Maintenance" (formerly Maintenance Manager AFPE) are:
- Completion of a Federal Professional Examination or other tertiary qualification and at least 2 years of professional experience in facility management
or
- Completion of upper-secondary level or equivalent qualification and at least 5 years of professional experience in facility management, of which at least 2 years in a management position
and
- Proof of the required module qualifications
How long does the maintenance manager course take?
The new continuing education, further training in Facility Management and Maintenance, which replaces the Maintenance Manager, lasts 3 to 4 semesters and is part-time. Enquire directly at the school of your choice about the duration.
What qualification do maintenance managers obtain after the examination?
The Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) for Certified Maintenance Manager will be replaced by the new qualification "Certified Manager in Facility Management and Maintenance"
