Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

Editing is probably one of the most exciting jobs for language and writing enthusiasts. Trained proofreaders usually work for publishing houses, but they also work in the media (radio, newspapers, magazines, television) or are employed by companies in the service sector or an association. Many graduates also aspire to freelance work after completing their training. Their tasks include editing and proofreading - i.e. revising - manuscripts of all kinds, such as articles, books, screenplays, websites, audio books, brochures, annual reports, user manuals, product descriptions, advertising texts, databases, etc.

The exciting thing is that the tasks can vary greatly depending on the assignment and the requirements of the customer are also very different. This is also the reason why proofreading training is very generalist and versatile. In addition to editing third-party manuscripts, numerous other skills are taught, including all the skills required in the field of product management:

  • Editing and optimizing texts
  • Linguistics and language skills (grammar, text analysis, sentence analysis, rhetoric, stylistics, text types, genres, sociolinguistics)
  • Recruitment of customers (authors, companies, publishers)
  • Order planning
  • Media, design, graphics, text-image
  • Communication psychology
  • Research
  • Calculation
  • Coordination and cooperation with stakeholders

The lector training course is very practice-oriented and varied. It consists of numerous practical and case-oriented exercises.
