Stress is a state of alertness in the body, which adjusts itself to an increased willingness to perform. Stress is triggered by circumstances such as longer working hours, higher work intensities, a blurred distinction between work and private life or, for example, the fear of failure, as well as many others. Stress management is used to prevent stress, with interventions either directly with the individual (as part of behavioural prevention), at an organizational level in the company or in individual departments (relationship prevention) or at the interface between company and employee.
Stress management training: What are immediate measures to combat stress?
The following immediate measures can be used to combat stress and as stress management training:
- Sort out your thoughts and tackle problems in a structured way. It helps if you sort out your thoughts in peace.
- Focus: Even if you don't know where your head is because of all the tasks, try to concentrate on one task and complete it. Structured work increases productivity and motivates you when you reach intermediate goals.
- Take a break: Take short breaks to recharge your batteries and distract yourself. Just 5 to 10 minutes can be helpful to take your mind off things. During this time, you should also step away from the screen and perhaps pick up a book.
- Eat chocolate: We've known for a long time that sweets can make us happy. Now it has also been scientifically proven. Dark chocolate promotes the production of the happiness hormone serotonin. This has been proven to make us calmer and happier.
